Antimafie: Regime can be removed if opposition renounces seats

As a result of the parliamentary elections organized according to Vlad Plahotniuc’s rules, the Republic of Moldova continues to remain a captured state. There is only one chance for the government led by Plahotniuc to be removed – if those from the bloc ACUM and the Socialists renounce their seats of MP, considers the administration of the Party “People’s Movement Antimafie”.

In a news conference at IPN, the party’s vice president Daniela Bodrug presented a memorandum on the dismantling of the captured state, which calls on the ACUM and Socialist MPs to use the seat of MP only for calling an extraordinary sitting of Parliament where they would vote new conditions for early elections, namely the return to the proportional representation system based on one national constituency and the diminution of the election threshold to 3%.

Accosting to Daniela Bodrug, besides the adoption of a new Election Code at that extraordinary sitting, the MPs should also pass provisions on the election campaign funding so that the state allocates equal amounts to each election contestant from the budget.

Electoral debates should be permitted only on the national public broadcaster Teleradio Moldova. All the political and electoral programs as well as electoral advertising on private TV channels during the election campaign should be banned.

Antimafie leader Sergiu Mocanu said the opposition has no other chance of removing Plahotniuc as long as it acts according to the agenda imposed by this. The non-acceptance of the seats will be a situation imposed by the opposition on the Democratic leader.

According to Mocanu, the other solutions debated in the public sphere, such as the formation of a parliamentary alliance between the Party of Socialists and the bloc ACUM against Plahotniuc, cannot be implemented owing to the discrepancies between the two forces. “If the bloc ACUM remains in the opposition for four years, Vlad Plahotniuc will be able to form a parliamentary majority by buying MPs from ACUM, as he did in the case of MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party in the past,” stated Sergiu Mocanu.
