The Political Party “People’s Movement Antimafie” calls upon the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu to run in the May 20 mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality. In a news conference at IPN on March 16, the party’s deputy head Daniela Bodrug also called on the Liberal Party and the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” to withdraw the fielded candidates and to unconditionally support Maia Sandu.
Daniela Bodrug urged the pro-European and unionist parties not to nominate own candidates for the mayoralty of Chisinau and to throw their support to Maia Sandu for the benefit of the inhabitants of the capital city. Former President of Romania Traian Basescu is requested to promote the message of support for Maia Sandu.
In the same news conference, Daniela Bodrug criticized the Liberal heavyweight Dorin Chirtoaca’s decision to vacate the seat of mayor in the most inappropriate political moment, when the capital city risks being seized by the Socialists. Preconditions are thus created for an eventual countrywide victory by the pro-Russian forces in this autumn’s parliamentary elections. “The consequences for the Republic of Moldova and its citizens can be serious. If the pro-European and unionist forces take no measures, they will show political irresponsibility that will be worth being condemned,” she stated.
According to Daniela Bodrug, Maia Sandu has now the biggest electoral support and she has the moral obligation to act promptly, determinedly and swiftly so as to prevent the candidates of Igor Dodon or Vlad Plahotniuc from taking control of the capital city.
