A number of Chisinau companies are involved in a swindling scheme organized by a criminal group that is protected by the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat and first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. The criminal group is headed by MP Simion Furdui. Such accusations were made by the leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu in a news conference at IPN.
According to Sergiu Mocanu, the fraudulent scheme enables the companies that import goods into Moldova to declare lower prices in customs, under the control of the criminal group.
The leader of “Antimafie” said that several weeks ago, six large economic entities that own shop chains in Chisinau were subject to unplanned inspections. The stores were closed for several days, but the Tax
“When the policemen and prosecutors went to the stores, they knew exactly how much of the stored merchandise was exempted from paying customs duties and how much merchandise was smuggled,” said Sergiu Mocanu. According to him, other companies were also subject to attacks and pressure earlier. The seized money is transferred to the PLDM and PDM.
Sergiu Mocanu said that the raids are staged by a former customs officer, the head of the Special Missions Division of the Interior Ministry and a prosecutor. “These persons act by order of MP Furdui in order to fuel the parties. Furdui sends policemen whom he earlier supported and named to posts in order to extort money,” he stated.
He also said that this week he will submit the copies of a criminal case started against Simion Furdui for swindle to all the embassies of Moldova. The case was started in 2011, when there was a conflict between Vlad Filat and Vlad Plahontiuc. But when they came to terms, the case was closed. There are three phone conversations attached to the case. In them, Vlad Filat and Simion Furdui speak about the money they extort from economic entities.
Sergiu Mocanu said the companies will never admit that they are subject to such pressure so that these wrongdoings can be stopped only through the agency of the foreign partners.
