The Political Party “People’s Movement Antimafie” condemns the June 11 protest against the introduction of the mixed-member electoral system. The party’s deputy head Daniela Bodrug, in a news conference at IPN, said the civil society organizations and political parties that mounted the protest played the game of those who orchestrate things and who try to settle scores with Vlad Plahotniuc.

In this connection, Daniela Bogrug referred to the ex-leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat, who is behind bars. “The protest was a mafiotic-political diversion staged under the cover of civil society and so-called political parties of the opposition. The political problems that should be solved have no connection with this farce into which the people were involved,” he stated.

The deputy head of “Antimafie” said the protest mounted in front of the Parliament Building on June 11 didn’t differ from the demonstrations in support of the mixed-member electoral system staged by the Democratic Party in Ialoveni, Edinet and Cahul. “Weren’t these all organized formally by civil society? Weren’t people brought in columns to Chisinau and to the demonstrations organized by Plahotniuc’s party?” asked rhetorically Daniela Bodrug.

She noted that as a result of similar protests mounted earlier, the former leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon was elected President of Moldova. “Next year, through the same mistake, Dodon will have a majority of seats in Parliament, while Plahotniuc will become a necessary evil in the fight against the forces of the left,” stated Daniela Bodrug.

She also said that the June 11 protest ended with no demands being put forward for those against whom they protested. It was a failure for the pro-European parties and a present for the electoral interests of Plahotniuc.
