The Republic of Moldova used up its institutional reserves and the Constitution should be amended in order to overcome this situation. Also, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova should be dissolved, while the political-mafiotic clans should be condemned. The given modifications are envisioned in the program “Second Republic” that was adopted in the August 27 congress of the People’s Movement “Antimafie”, IPN reports.

The program will form the basis of the future election campaign in which the party will become involved and is aimed at supporting the development of the small and medium-sized businesses and the education sector. Under the program, there will be set up a political tribunal and the customs and tax systems will be reorganized. According to the movement’s members, the objectives set in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution weren’t achieved and this program provides a survival chance for Moldova.

“Antimafie” leader Sergiu Mocanu said that every word from this program is aimed at excluding oligarchy and at ensuring the functionality of the state and European living standards in Moldova. “In the 22 years of independence, the Moldovan authorities have stolen money from the people’s pockets and state funds, using them in clan and group interests,” he stated.

Alexandru Florenta, head of the “Antimafie” branch in Cantemir, stated that the people are disappointed by the government. “The whole political class is criminal. They took the parties and the mass media and the whole state under control,” he said.

Natalia Stratan, representative of the “Antimafie” branch in Calarasi, said that society is no longer able to tolerate the corrupt acts of the government that changed its name, not yet the behavior. “The “Second Republic” is absolutely necessary. It is a short and clear program that contains definite steps. We must not wait for somebody else to bring things in our country in order,” she said.

During live video transmissions, a number of Moldovans who emigrated abroad said the Constitution
should be amended so as to have a prosperous country without corruption and frauds.

The congress made changes to the party’s administration. Daniela Bodrug, Valerian Vartic and Alexandru Florentta were elected as deputy heads, while Andrei Badiu as secretary general. There were named the members of the Political Bureau.

The congress ended with a protest. Over 300 representatives of the movement from all the country’s regions came together in the center of Chisinau and chanted “Down with the mafia”.
