The parliamentary parties' negotiations are “an occult conspiracy” against society, according to Sergiu Mocanu, leader of the Antimafia People's Movement. The politician told a press conference at IPN that Vlad Plahotniuc, first vice-president of the Democratic Party, is blackmailing the other negotiators, who are afraid of him.
Mocanu says that Plahotniuc is blackmailing the other party leaders in order to obtain important offices in the government, the judiciary and the Prosecutor General's Office. According to Mocanu, the Democrat threatened PLDM leader Vlad Filat with prosecution in the Banca de Economii scandal and PL leader Mihai Ghimpu with prosecution against his Liberal colleague and former Minister of Transport Anatol Salaru. “Plahotniuc has enough evidence to blackmail them and Filat and Ghimpu, through their cowardice, are betraying our European aspirations. Those who stand to lose the most in this situation are the voters”, said the Antimafia leader.
He remarked that the only ones that cannot be blackmailed are the country's European partners. “We won't hesitate to protest on the streets and when people will wake up and realize they have been dragged into a huge scam, we'll lead the movement to take them down”, warned Mocanu.
Daniela Bodrug, vice-president of Antimafia, thinks the negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary majority have already failed because they are repeating the same old scenario: sharing the highest offices. “It's shameful that they claim to be discussing the responsibility of governance and topical problems and not the distribution of offices”, said Bodrug.
She suggested that one of the true reasons behind the impasse of negotiations is PL's requirement that the Constitution be amended so that the President can be elected with 51 votes in Parliament. This is why parallel negotiations are being carried out with PCRM. Bodrug also said that the negotiating parties are preparing the sacking of Nicolae Timofti and this is why the President hasn't appeared in public lately.
