Five high-school students in Balti town attempted to take their graduation tests without actually attending them. The Anticorruption Center, which promised to watch the graduation exams throughout the country, is now investigating who filled the test papers in place of the examinees, with a number of teachers being suspected, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Investigations revealed that the examinees had been abroad and didn't attend the examination session at all, from its very beginning. But searches in the examination premises found already filled test papers bearing the names of the students in question”, Angela Starinschi, the Anticorruption Center's spokesperson, told a news conference on Wednesday. Dishonest practices were also discovered at the Chisinau-based Gheorghe Asachi Lyceum, where the deputy principal of the school was allegedly found on Wednesday photocopying test papers in breach of the rules. “The Center believes these tests were multiplied in order to be resolved by the teachers of the school and then passed on to the examinees”, said Tudor Borsh, department head at the Center. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Asachi's principal Boris Volosatyi denied the allegations, saying other documents than tests were photocopied by his deputy. According to the Anticorruption Center, 21 cases of corruption and trickery were reported during this summer's examination session. Most of them concern collection of bribes for the examiners and watchers, with sums ranging from 400 to 4,000 lei. The schools involved were the lyceums Mircea Eliade, Vasile Alecsandri, Elena Alistar, Lucian Blaga, etc.
