Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office persecutes witnesses and destroys evidence in “bank fraud” case, statement

Denis Urechi, a witness in the “bank fraud” case, says that the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the acting prosecutor general persecute witnesses and destroy evidence. According to him, the bank fraud took place under the “state capture”, but what followed aggravated the situation even more.

In a press conference hosted by IPN, Denis Urechi said that he is a witness in five episodes of the “bank fraud” case. Furthermore, on October 19, 2015 he was convicted on the basis of a falsified case, not a political case.

“On February 28, 2013, I, Denis Urechi, filed the criminal complaint based on which the “bank fraud” case was started. I’m the person from which the examination of the illegal actions of the criminal groups that dispossessed Banca de Economii started. At several press conferences in 2014-2015, I also publicly proved that the fraud was ongoing. I wasn’t heard, wasn’t seen and so we got to what we were supposed to get - the theft was committed. At that time, the covering up of the crime was ensured by the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. I accuse Corneliu Gurin and Eduard Harunjen,” said Denis Urechi.

According to him, after Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo was dismissed, the case didn’t make headway, but returned to the initial stage. “As a witness in this case for 11 years, during this period I was arrested and held in penitentiary and once I was convicted. I was jailed illegally. And it seems that more than anyone else in Moldova, I’m waiting for this case to be completed so that I get rid of persecution,” stated Denis Urechi.

He noted that it is the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office that destroys evidence. A large part of the evidence accusing defendants is based on court decisions. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office requests the Chisinau Court of Appeals to order the reexamination of these decisions. “Today, these judgments are being reviewed at the Chisinau Court of Appeals. How will a court decision assess the prosecutors’ evidence if it was overturned by the court of appeals? It’s clear that such evidence will be considered null and void. This is due to the criminal actions carried taken by the acting president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals Gennady Mira. This character became president of the appeals court while having two criminal cases at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. He was caught taking bribes as a judge at the Soroca Court and the Anenii Noi Court. Dear fellow citizens, a character with two criminal cases becomes president of the appeals court. This was specially organized so that this person who is controlled by anticorruption prosecutors obeys the instructions coming from criminal organizations,” related Denis Urechi.
