At least 10% of the personnel of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office must leave. By August 1, a series of anticorruption cases involving heavyweights of parties will appear, while the case of Ilan Shor could be sent to court, the new chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari said in a press club meeting staged by the Journalistic Investigations Center, IPN reports.
“I admit that persons who do not meet the integrity principles are among the inferiors. I’m analyzing the situation now. On August 1, we will reassess the personnel of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. Those who committed deviations will have to leave. We now have 32 prosecutors who will keep their posts if we do not identify deviations. We will employ new persons and will increase the number of anticorruption prosecutors to 50. The employment criteria will be very harsh. Both the integrity and the professionalism of employees will be taken into account,” said Viorel Morari.
He promised that criminal cases against heavyweights of different parties will appear by August 1 and denied the accusations from the press that the institution is politically influence. “I now analyze the cases we have and will make everything possible for these cases to be sent to court, including the case of Ilan Shor,” he stated.
Viorel Morari noted he came to manage the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office because he feels guilty for the developments and promised that changes will occur by August 1, 2016. Otherwise, he will resign.
