Anticorruption officers discover illegal diesel fuel business
An illegal business with diesel fuel was annihilated by officers of the Anticorruption Center. During almost six months, the fuel had been sold in Durlesti town of Chisinau municipality at much lower prices than on the market, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Anticorruption Center, the diesel fuel was sold for 14 lei a liter at a time when at filling stations it costs 16.45 lei. The clandestine ‘gas stations’ were located at the termini of municipal routes.
The ‘businessmen’ sold by about 1 000 liters of fuel a day. Among the main clients were drivers of minibuses working on routes No. 180, 101, 129, 124, 185, 125 and 160 in the municipality of Chisinau.
Allegedly, the diesel fuel was smuggled into Moldova and was then sold without paying taxes.
The Anticorruption Center so far has dealt with nine such cases. In all the cases, there were imposed fines and the merchandise was confiscated.
