A person was arrested after the searches carried out by the National Anticorruption Center and anticorruption prosecutors on July 26. The man, who had worked as a police officer for many years, is suspected of mediating the transmission of sums of money to an employee of the National Investigations Inspectorate for helping avoid the arrest of persons investigated in criminal cases, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, a sum of €10,000 was allegedly negotiated and transmitted to the police officer and other persons who haven’t been yet identified.

Searches at a number of addresses in Chisinau and Drochia were performed on July 26, including at the home of the employee of the National Investigations Inspectorate and in his car and at a health resort in Durlesti, which is reportedly owned by this and has worked without official authorization for a period.

A number of persons are investigated in this case.
