The Jurists Union of Moldova will publish an anticorruption guide for students from higher education institutions within the project “Young people as promoters of corruption-free education”. Also, the young people who will be told to offer bribe will be assisted by experts to overcome the situation in a correct way.  The project was launched in a news conference at IPN Agency.

“The initiative was put foreword by our young people and we supported it. We want the young people to study at education institutions, especially universities, and to pass exams without having to give bribe. We want to encourage the young people to obtain education of a high quality that will be useful to them and to the whole society,” said the president of the Jurists Union Gheorghe Avornic.

The anticorruption guide will be printed in at least 200 copies and will be available in electronic form. An anonymous survey among students will be carried out to help compile the guide. “We want to know the real situation in universities and then to hold discussions to see what we can do because it is a common problem,” stated Gheorghe Avornic. He expressed readiness to personally help the students who are told to offer bribe.

Raisa Grecu, dean of the Law Faculty of the University of European Political and Economic Studies “Constantin Stere”, underlined the importance of such an aid. “The student must know where they can seek help from so that they do not give bribe, pass the exam and do not suffer negative consequences,” she stated.

Mariana Baxanean, the representative of Transparency International Moldova, said the young people can use the organization’s hotline 0-800-10000 gratis and anonymously to report cases of bribery.

The project “Young people as promoters of corruption-free education”, launched by the Jurists Union of Moldova, is financed by the United Nations Democracy Fund through East Europe Foundation.
