The heads of the police post in Sagaidac and Mihailovca villages of Cimislia district were arrested by officers of the National Anticorruption Center on suspicion of passive corruption. They are held at the Center’s remand unit, IIPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the institution.
The arrest was made in a recreational place in Sagaidac. The police officers are suspected of asking for 5,000 lei from a person for not holding him accountable for driving under the influence. They face up to 10 years in jail.
Another policeman of the Donduseni Police Commissariat was put on probation for use of torture and causing of serious injuries. If he commits a violation during a year he will serve three years and a half in jail. He was also banned from holding public and responsible posts in the period. Prosecutors intend to appeal the decision to a higher court as they consider that the punishment is too mild.
