The Anticorruption Alliance requested the Central Examination Commission to make public the results of the examination of the income statements submitted by public servants and announce the steps that will be taken to punish those who committed irregularities, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communique, the Alliance says that 1,270 government officials filed income statements to the Central Examination Commission, of the about 4,000 persons who are obliged to do this. Though the persons who do not obey the rules of making the income statements public are liable to punishment, no one has been penalized so far. The Anticorruption Alliance said that the Central Examination Commission was to make the first results known by February 21. The statements were to be compared with those submitted last year. The Anticorruption Alliance urges the authorities to present the bills with amendments to the examination and penalization mechanisms for public debates so as to make them more efficient. The Anticorruption Alliance is a voluntary union of about 30 nongovernmental organizations working in Moldova.
