Anti-trafficking postage stamp to be issued Sunday
The 4.5 lei stamp depicts an eye in tears with a spider’s web in the background, accompanied by the inscription “18 octombrie – Ziua europeană împotriva traficului de persoane” (“October 18 – European Day against Trafficking in Persons”).
A companion to the stamp is an envelope featuring similar symbols in the lower left corner – figures of human beings caught in the same spider’s web, which symbolizes the danger presented by the networks of traffickers in humans and a reminder of the risks of this phenomenon.
“This is an example of collaboration that should be followed, when two initiatives met successfully each other – one belonging to a nongovernmental organization and the other to a governmental institution, as the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication has the same goal: to prevent and counter the gravest phenomenon of the third millennium”, stated Ana Revenco, chairwoman of La Strada, in a press release.
The stamp will be officially launched Sunday morning at Office no.12 in Chisinau.
The stamp is printed in 50,000 copies.
