Anti-Mafia Movement condemns Plahotniuc's listing on Democrats' slate

The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) will be responsible for the fact that the mafia will govern Moldova now that the controversial businessman Vlad Plahotniuc was included in the list of the Democratic Party (PDM) under No. 2, the leader of the Anti-Mafia Movement Sergiu Mocanu, who tops the list of candidates for MP of the Party for Nation and Country, said in a news conference on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Mocanu, though there were presented sufficient proofs against Vlad Plahotniuc, the leaders of the AEI, including Acting President Mihai Ghimpu and Prime Minister Vlad Filat, did not take steps to prevent his coming to power. The Anti-Mafia Movement considers the fact that the two leaders of the governing alliance did not take measures shows that they are accomplices in the case of Vlad Plahotniuc. “This is a defying case. The political class is being bought,” said Sergiu Mocanu. According to him, the inclusion of Vlad Plahotniuc in the list of the Democratic Party will confuse the society and will lead to endless elections. “Neither the EU nor other countries will support us until we have so many bandits,” he said The Anti-Mafia Movement said the PDM’s list of candidates includes either persons who finance the party or persons who are blackmailed. The members of the Party for Nation and Country say that if they will come to power, they will opt for the post of Prosecutor General and of president of the Supreme Court of Justice as only this way will they be able to fight the deep-rooted mafia.
