The most probable implementation procedure of the provisions of the Audiovisual Code (AC), which does not stipulate existence of local public broadcasters, the municipal public radio station Antena C could be transformed in a Joint Stock Company, controlled by certain forces, director of the institution, Vasile Stratan declared during a Sunday program, on October 1. On October 1, Antena C marks 8 years from creation. State considers that the change of station’s statute will happen by the end of this year. He states that the previously discussed option of transforming Antena C ina subsidiary of Radio Moldova is not possible. Vasile State believes that the new management will dismiss the present administration staff and will make significant changes in the composition of the team. In this context, he thinks that Antena C will not be closed, grounding on the affirmations of the representatives of PCRM and PPCD factions, which had an important role in drafting the Audiovisual Code. State reminded that the representatives of PPCD insisted on privatizing the municipal radio station, but neither this solution is included in the Code. The director of Antena C mentioned in this respect about the problem of the laws from Moldova, which are not precise and which should clearly stipulate what happens with the local stations and should include their reorganization mechanism, if they are not allowed to work as public institutions. Referring to the creation of the new Audiovisual Coordinating Council (ACC), State declared that the Parliamentary majority will move heaven and earth in order to introduce loyal persons in the composition of the Government. “We can not expect that the council will be composed of persons representing the interests of the civil society, the contribution of which is essential for the development of audiovisual in Moldova”, Vasile State declared. Antena C was launched on October 1, 1998, within the frameworks of City Hall’s Department for Public Relations. In the same day the municipal News Agency Info-Prim started its activity, which was liquidated in 2005 through a Decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council, voted by the factions of PCRM and PPCD, Info-Prim Neo informs.
