ANRE to approve new electricity tariffs

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) on May 11 plans to hold two rounds of public consultations within which there will be set new electricity tariffs following the 13.2% rise in the price of power purchased from Ukrainian suppliers and the Cuchurgan Power Plant, Info-Prim Neo reports. Gas Natural Fenosa asked increasing the average electricity tariff from 1.44 lei to 1.55 lei per kWh, which is a rise of 8.1%. RED Nord requested a tariff of 1.65 lei/kWh (+7.1%), while RED Nord-Vest – of 1.66 lei/kWh (+ 7.8%). The power distribution companies did not take into account the rise in the power transportation price or took account of it only partially. The state-run company Moldelectrica asked that the transportation charge be raised from 6.76 bani to 10.72 bani per kWh, which is an increase of over 58%. Those who attended the first public consultations threw such a request into question and the ANRE asked updating the data and presenting new calculations. On May 11, there will be examined and adjusted the power transportation charge for Moldelectrica first and then the average electricity supply tariff and the tariffs according to categories of end-users for the distribution companies. ANRE director general Victor Parlicov said that a part of the costs included by the distribution companies in the new tariffs for end-users can be excluded.
