The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) will take over the chairmanship of the Eastern Partnership Regulators’ Network for Electronic Communication (EaPeReg) on January 1, 2017. Simultaneously, the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications of Romania will take up the post of deputy chairman of this organization, IPN reports.

A decision to this effect was taken in the last plenary meeting of the EaPeReg that was held in Brussels on November 22, 2016.

Under the memorandum of understanding on the constitution and functioning of the EaPeReg, the chairmanship is held by a regulator of the EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine) for a one-year period. The post of deputy chairman is held by a regulatory authority of an EU member state. The EU member states are partners in implementing this project of the EU.

The chairman and deputy chairman of the EaPeReg are responsible for the fulfillment of the organization’s plan of action for the respective year and for the management of the process of organizing and holding the planned activities.

The ANRCETI held the chairmanship of the EaPeReg in 2013 as well.
