ANRCETI, ANPC to deal with issue of rise in Moldtelecom tariffs

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) and the National Agency for Competition Protection (ANPC) will propose solutions to the problem of tariffs on telephones services after they carry out inspections at Moldtelecom. “Those involved in this matter poorly coordinate their actions. There is a regulatory vacuum. The only institutions that can resolve the problem are ANRCETI and ANCP. We must find a solution so that this issue does not affect the people,” Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar said in a meeting he called on Wednesday. Several minutes after the meeting, Premier Vlad Filat’s spokesman Igor Volnitski said that Valeriu Lazar made a show. “The meeting was a cheap show. Mister Lazar pretended he wanted to collect facts in order to be able to respond to Vlad Filat’s request. However, before calling the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister had submitted the response to the State Chancellery,” said Igor Volnitski. Not long before the start of the meeting, the National Agency for Competition Protection prescribed suspending the decision to adjust the tariffs on phone services from March 1, taken by the Administration Board of SA Moldtelecom. On February 21, Vlad Filat instructed Valeriu Lazar to call an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Moldtelecom, where to consider annulling the decision concerning the new tariffs, and to reach an applicable decision in the Government.
