Another NGO calls for Transnistrian detainees’ rights to be respected
E-Civis Association has joined the NGOs that request human rights international institutions to intervene and stop the abuses and inhumane treatment applied to citizens in the Transnistrian region of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The association said in a press release international institutions should share the blame for these infringements of human rights through their lack of involvement. E-Civis reproves the fact that the situation in Transnistria is considered a taboo and is ignored by those responsible for ensuring citizens’ security and respect for human rights.
E-Civis calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Ernest Vardanyan, Ilie Cazac and the young woman detained because her mother, who is hospitalized in Chisinau, failed to appear before investigators in connection with a traffic accident.
However, despite Moldovan NGOs actions, Vardanyan’s and Cazacu’s fate remains uncertain. Their families haven’t seen them since they were arrested and don’t know where they are being held. E-Civis claims there are reasons to assume they are being tortured and could be killed at any time.
Most of the human rights NGOs in Moldova have already issued similar calls.
