Another MP quits

Otilia Drăguțanu has announced she is leaving the Democratic group and Parliament altogether. “After giving it a lot of thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not made for politics, and politics is not made for me,” she posted to Facebook.

“I’ve always known where I belong and where my contribution and abilities can be most useful. I believe an opposition party needs someone with a different set of skills and temperament and more experience in politics than me,” wrote Otilia Drăguțanu.

Otilia Drăguțanu entered Parliament on PDM’s national ticket. She is the wife of the former National Bank governor Dorin Drăguțanu.

On Wednesday, non-inscript Viorel Melnic, elected in the South Transnistria constituency, announced his departure, too.

Earlier, for reasons of dual office holding incompatibilities, Prime Minister Maia Sandu, Interior Minister Andrei Năstase, and Education Minister Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei gave up their seats in the legislature, which is currently down to 96 MPs.
