The Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered for more parties as participants in the campaign for the September 5 constitutional referendum. These are: the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Party of Socialists “Patria-Rodina”, the Republican Party (PR), and the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PNL, PR and the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” said they will campaign in favor of the referendum on amending Article 78 of the Constitution, while the Party of Socialists “Patria-Rodina” has not yet decided. In the July 20 meeting, the Central Election Commission also approved the representatives of the parties who will be responsible for weekly presenting financial reports. On July 16, the CEC registered nine parties as participants in the campaign – the Democratic Party (PDM), the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance (AMN), the Party of Communists (PCRM), the “Ravnopravie” Movement, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), the Liberal Party (PL), the “European Action” Movement (MAE), the Christian-Democratic People's Party (PPCD) and the Republican People's Party (PPR). On September 5, voters will be asked whether they are in favor or against direct election of the head of state.
