The second tranche of flu shots, in the amount of 93,000 doses, of the consignment of 100,000 doses purchased from the Russian Federation, got to the Republic of Moldova.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the 93,000 doses will be distributed to public health facilities for immunizing professional contingents and high-risk groups.
Contacted by IPN, Ștefan Gheorghiță, head of the Flu and ARI Surveillance Division, said the shots are kept in cold storage facilities at the National Public Health Agency. Today they will start to be distributed to medical institutions in Chisinau, while tomorrow to those in other localities.
He noted that the vaccination of the frontline medical personnel fighting COVID-19, with doses of the first batch of 7,000 shots, already started.
Another 100,000 flu shots are to be delivered early in December. Of these, 85,000 shots are donated by the U.S., while 15,000 shots are bought by the Republic of Moldova through UNICEF.
