A number of 202 new infections with COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova on May 19. Of those infected, 36 are healthcare workers. The number of infections with the novel coronavirus in Moldova thus rose to 6,340, over 3,500 of which are active cases, IPN quoted Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu as saying in a press briefing.
According to the minister, the largest numbers of infections were recorded in Chisinau, Soroca, the Transnistrian region and Strășeni. Micro-outbreaks in the family were reported in some of these administrative units. “This should make us more responsible, both individually and collectively,” stated Viorica Dumbrăveanu.
As many as 1,288 tests were done today and 1,070 of these were primary tests. Eighty-three persons who recovered were discharged from the hospital today.
Twenty infected persons are in critical condition and were put on a ventilator, while 251 are in a serious state. Four persons died on May 19, taking the number of casualties to 221.
The minister said the primary medical assistance system ensures the supervision of about 40,000 persons who self-isolated at home. Since April 10, when the persons with mild forms of COVID-19 started to be treated at home, the family doctors have supervised 1,141 patients.
