Shor Party lawmaker Marina Tauber will remain in preventive detention for another 20 days, as ruled today by the Chisinau/Ciocana Court.

A protest rally took place outside the courthouse, where supporters and members of the party demanded “freedom for political prisoners”.

Tauber told reporters that even today it wasn’t clear to her why she was behind bars. She also accused the government of exceeding all limits and that the Shor Party would fight to the end. “I am not surprised by this decision. Sadly, we have to note that even Judge Buzu did not resist the direct political pressure from Maia Sandu, Litvinenco, Musteață and so on”, commented Marina Tauber.

On July 21, Tauber was stripped of parliamentary privilege before being arrested. Subsequently she has been charged with two offenses: knowingly accepting illegal financing for the Shor Party from an organized criminal group; and falsifying the party’s financial report for the first half of 2022 with the intention of withholding actual incomes and expenses.
