Annual debts to be cancelled in exchange for buying health policies
The legal commission approved a legislative initiative by which the debts of land owners and founders of companies to the mandatory health insurance funds will be cancelled if they purchase health insurance policies for this year. The bill was submitted by the Communist faction, Info-Prim Neo reports.
MP Vasilii Sova said that the Communist lawmakers received numerous petitions. The MPs were contacted by farmland owners, holders of entrepreneur’s patent and founders of private companies. The petitioners said they are obliged by court decisions to pay the debts to the mandatory health insurance funds even if they performed no activity during the last few years.
“Taking into account the difficult economic and social situation in the country over the last few years and the drought of 2012, which seriously affected the payment capacity of the mentioned categories, we propose canceling their debts to the mandatory health insurance funds,” the authors of the initiative say in the informative note.
In order to stimulate the inclusion of these categories of persons in the health insurance system, it is suggested canceling the debts only if the person presents evidence that the insurance premium for 2013 was paid.
