A series of cultural activities to render homage to master Eugen Doga and to promote his works will be carried out in the course of this year on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the composer, IPN reports.

Among the most important events are an anniversary concert, an exhibition of photographs, the ballet “Luceafarul”, chamber performances and creation meetings with the composer’s involvement.

There will be edited a number of onomastic publications, including a postage stamp and an anniversary coin “Eugen Doga – 80 years of birth”.

A sum of 1.5 million lei was allocated from the Government’s Reserve Fund for staging the events.

Eugen Doga was born in Mocra village of Rybnitsa district on March 1, 1937. His pieces of music are highly appreciated in Moldova and abroad. Eugen Doga is a State Award Laureate, a Knight of the Order of the Republic and a People’s Artist.
