Animal protection organizations and activists today protested in front of the Chisinau City Hall, expressing their dissatisfaction with the latest decisions by the municipality concerning animal protection. Protesters brought a dog with disabilities that was struck by cars. Others came with a funeral wreath, IPN reports.
The protesters said the Chisinau City Hall blocked a number of draft decisions on the protection of animals so that many of the citizens were deprived of the right to sterilize pets.
The citizens who came to the City Hall said Vitalie Voznoi was illegally named acting head of the Animal Protection Section of the General Public Amenities Division on June 14 this year. The protesters demanded that Ion Burdiumov should vacate the post of director of the General Public Amenities Division.
Vitalie Voznoi came out and invited the protesters to discussions, but those attending refused, saying Vitalie Voznoi does not decide anything. The activists who came to the City Hall asked the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban to come out to talk to the protesters, but this didn’t happen.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, Ion Burdiumov, the head of the General Public Amenities Division, said he is not in Chisinau, but will come with a reaction on August 16.
