Anesthesiology Section of Mother and Child Institute modernized with Romanian funds

The Anesthesiology Section of the Chisinau-based Mother and Child Institute was reopened after it was renovated and outwitted with modern medical equipment with about 4.5 million lei provided by the Government of Romania in financial support, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Health.

The Anesthesiology Section is intended for women patients with the most serious obstetrics and gynecological diseases. After surgery, these will be supervised during up to 24 hours by a team of specialist doctors who will ensure rapid and efficient awakening after anesthesia.

“The existence of specialists and of renovated and properly equipped halls is essential for guaranteeing high quality medical service,” Minister of Health Ruxanda Glavan stated in the inaugural ceremony.

Director of the Mother and Child Institute Sergiu Gladun stated that until now the patients after surgery were transferred to the Intensive Care, Gynecology and other sections and the medical workers didn’t have time to appropriately supervise all the patients.

Four more sections are being renovated within the Moldovan-Romanian project initiated in 2014. Romania’s investment in the modernization of the Mother and Child Institute totaled about €2.5 million.

Approximately 6,500 children are annually born at the Mother and Child Institute. Some 76% of the deliveries are difficult.
