Andrian Mardare qualifies for final of European Athletics U23 Championships

Andrian Mardare is close to winning a new medal in javelin throw. Valeriu Lungu’s pupil has qualified for the final of the European Athletics U23 Championships that are taking place in the Polish town of Bydgoszcz during July 13-16, IPN reports.

In the qualifying rounds, the athlete achieved the result of 76.09 meters, but his objective was to qualify for the final. At the recent European Athletics Team Championships, Second League, Mardare ranked first after setting a new national record in javelin throw – 83.93 meters. Andrian Mardare medalled bronze at the World Under-20 Championships of 2014 and gold at this year’s European Throwing Cup in Spain.

Diana Podoleanu has also competed in the European Athletics U23 Championships. She failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 100 m race Podoleanu will also compete in the 200 m race. At the competition in Poland, Stefan Mura will yet compete in discus throw, Polina Ciui in hammer throw, while Ludmila Frunze in the 800 m race.
