Sergiu Cioclea will be proposed for the post of governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu announced after a meeting with the candidate chosen by the special commission, IPN reports.
“I’m impressed by his knowledge and studies. I’m also impressed by his wish to return home and contribute to the development of the banking system. I decided to propose Mister Cioclea to Parliament. I will initiate the procedures today so that we could appoint the governor next week,” said the Speaker.
Andrian Candu also said that he is satisfied with the way the contest was held and considers that other institutions should follow this example.
Sergiu Cioclea said it is a challenge for him to be nominated for this post, but he is confident that Parliament will name him as governor.
To become governor of the National Bank of Moldova, the candidate must garner at least 51 votes of MP.
