The PDM is against forming a minority government because this will be nonfunctional in Moldova’s conditions, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.
“We cannot afford a government voted in by about 30 MPs, including of a party that would not support it afterward. To be able to do the reforms we planned, we need a government supported by a parliamentary majority,” stated Candu.
The deputy head of the PDM said the party he represents excludes a coalition with the parties of the left. “We will form an alliance only with the pro-European parties that support the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU. A coalition with the parties of the left that plead for terminating the accord is excluded,” he stated.
The Speaker noted that the PDM still wants a coalition between the PDM, PLDM, PL and Iurie Leanca’s group. “We hope that those from the PLDM will ultimately overcome the frustrations and we will form a government coalition. The country’s interests must prevail over the party interests. The discussions go on, even if with difficulty. I hope we will succeed,” he said.
On the other hand, Andrian Candu expressed his skepticism about the possibility of nominating a technocrat as Prime Minister, as the PLDM demands.
