Moldova is very close to fulfilling the conditions for the second installment of the macro-financial assistance provided by the European Union. This was stated by Speaker Andrian Candu during Radio Moldova’s “Loc de dialog” talk show.
The head of the legislative body says that authorities will invite an evaluation committee from Brussels, to assess Moldova’s successes and failures, and reconsider their decision concerning the macro-funding. “They could come and assess for the second installment, we are very close to the moment of fulfilling the requirements for the second installment,” stated Andrian Candu.
As for the invalidation of local municipal elections in Chișinău, an event that caused the suspension of the first installment of macro-funding from the EU, Andrian Candu said the Parliamentary Committee on amendments to electoral legislation is yet to issue a conclusion. Afterwards, the Parliament will discuss whether relevant legislation should or shouldn’t be changed.
In reference to the set of laws on fiscal reform, the head of the Parliament said that some have been quick to criticize there bills without sufficiently analyzing them. “I recommend everyone to carefully read the laws and, when they come into effect, to make all necessary analyses and have patience as these laws produce their desired results,” said Andrian Candu, noting that criticizing is easy.
The President of the Parliament further stated that granting citizenship for investments is common practice in many countries, and that it is important to find a proper model. To that end, said Andrian Candu, an international company has been hired to organize the entire process of obtaining Moldovan citizenship for investments. This company will verify the financial sources of potential beneficiaries, and will monitor the entire process of applying for citizenship.
