The leader of the Pro Moldova parliamentary group Andrian Candu expressed his skepticism about the correctness of the information according to which the former leader of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc left the United States in favor of a country of Latin America. According to him, Vladimir Plahotniuc has no reason to leave one of the finest countries in terms of justice, IPN reports.
Asked to confirm or reject the latest reports that the ex-Democratic leader changed the place of living, Andrian Candu said Vladimir Plahotniuc is in the U.S., which has one of the most developed Western law systems, with a particular request and a particular file for asylum. “He is in a country where the law is law, the system is system, the politics are politics. This is practically one of the finest countries in terms of justice,” the politician stated in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channel.
As to the accusation that he is an expert in the structuring of Plahotniuc’s businesses in offshore areas, made by ex-Premier Ion Sturza, Andrian Candu said the businesses undertaken by Vlad Plahotniuc were structured through the Netherlands, which is a very transparent jurisdiction, with well-defined legislation, including as regards the fight against money laundering.
“I told Mister Plahotniuc in 2008-2009 that it is better to structure the business using such a jurisdiction as the Netherlands as this is one of the best jurisdictions in term of taxing,” stated Andrian Candu.
Vladimir Plahotniuc left Moldova a year ago after the party he led conceded power. He is accused of capturing the justice system and of organizing and managing criminal groups specialized in money laundering.
