Romania is Moldova’s main partner and we count very much on the support of this country in the European integration process, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
Candu stated that Chisinau will insist on intensifying cooperation with Romania at parliamentary and governmental levels and between the heads of state. “Last year we launched very important projects with Romania, especially as regards energy security. We must continue and intensify these projects. Romania is the country that can help us the most in the European integration process. It is a neighboring state with which we have linguistic and spiritual ties. Romania has the necessary experience in the European integration process. We are now holding talks to institute common control on the Moldovan-Romanian border. We also work for the Moldovan people to be able to cross the Moldovan-Romanian border only with the identity card,” he said.
As to the Transnistrian issue, Candu said it can be resolved by dialog and by the Parliament’s active involvement, especially because the region faces a serious economic crisis. “Even if assistance comes from Russia, it is insufficient, especially if we take into account the depreciation of the ruble,” he stated. As regards the new Bashkan of Gagauzia, Andrian Candu said many will become disappointed in the near future as Irina Vlah is not a pro-Russian supporter as they considered her.
The Speaker also said that the government coalition will not replace some ministers in April, as the leader of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin wants. “We didn’t discuss something like this with them. We cannot assess the activity of a minister who just started work. We must give them more time. It’s easy to dismiss a minister, but it’s harder to find a competent person. Maia Sandu is a very good minister. She is the most reformist of all the ministers. She did very good reforms, eradicated copying at the Baccalaureate exams and continues to work. We do not have reasons to discharge her,” he stated.
