The resignations sought by the protesters will lead to a profound political and economic crisis in the country, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said in the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.
“I’m confused about protesters’ demands. Last week they had reasonable demands, but now their demands became radical as they want resignations one after another. It must be clear that the current Government was installed only 45 days ago and didn’t manage to do a lot. But it started to do many things,” said the Speaker.
Another argument invoked by Adrian Candu in favor of the current Cabinet is the coming visit by the IMF mission to Chisinau. “The IMF mission comes to discuss and negotiate a number of reforms with us. It will not come to discuss with a provisional government or with acting ministers,” he stated.
The Speaker condemned the altercations that occurred in the Great National Assembly Square. “They shouldn’t have mistreated the unionist protesters and those reporters of two TV channels. It’s not normal. They say they defend democracy, but act against the democratic norms,” he said.
As to the unionists, Adrian Candu noted the union can be reached not in the street, but through infrastructure-related project. “If the governments of the two countries want, they will become so dependent on each other that the people at a certain moment will not realize that the union already happened,” he stated.
In the same program, Sergiu Ostaf, executive director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CREDO), said the attempts to make use of the protest feeling should be thwarted. “If they are not, the people will no longer have confidence in protests,” he stated.
