The citizens of Moldova will feel the economic benefits of the Association Agreement with the EU in 3-4 months, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Andrian Candu said in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the active implementation of the provisions of the accord will start immediately after the elections and the EU will provide €440 million for the purpose. “We have a plan for implementing the Association Agreement with the EU. The people will be able to receive cheap loans for businesses. New social infrastructure projects will be launched,” he stated.
Andrian Candu also said that some of the provisions of the accord were implemented even before the signing of the document. “We made progress in some of the areas before the signing of the agreement. Effort was made to amend the laws and we 60% fulfilled this objective. There were carried out a number of provisions concerning energy efficiency. There are used renewable sources of energy and biomass. I think the people already started to feel the advantages of this accord. They can travel visa-free to the EU. Many roads, schools and nurseries were repaired,” he stated.
In the same program, Adrian Candu said that the price of gas is expected to decrease. “We are now at the last stage of discussions with Russia on the extension of the contract for the supply of gas, which expires on December 31 and we think that we will have good news in the near future,” he stated.
As to the apple growers that sustained losses as a result of the ban imposed by Russia, Adrian Candu assured that the state will support them. “We will now cover a part of the sustained losses and in spring will offer them subsidies for helping them continue their business,” he stated.
