Head of Parliament Andrian Candu told the President of Romani Klaus Iohannis, who is in Chisinau on a visit, that now that the new Government was invested, it is important not to disappoint the people and the development partners, IPN reports. “As I told the Romanian head of state, the most important thing now is not to disappoint the people of Moldova, who put their confidence in us, and our development partners, both at bilateral level with Romania and with the colleagues from Brussels,” Andrian Candu told the reporters.
The Speaker said it is important to do all the proposed reforms, while Romania should be near Moldova as a partner, supporter and envoy of our message to Brussels and the European countries, with the European integration being the only chance to develop Moldova. Andrian Candu said he also told Klaus Iohannis that the discussions with the Liberal Party must continue and that the Liberals’ participation in governance is important.
In the morning, the President of Romania had meetings with the leaders of the three pro-European parties – the PLDM, PDM and PL. They said that they discussed the continuation of the country’s European course, the implementation of reforms and of the Association Agreement with the EU. The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that in the discussions, the Romanian head of state indirectly suggested that he would like an alliance between the pro-European parties so that they ensure the continuation of the European course.
Klaus Iohannis paid a two-day visit to Chisinau. He met with President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and Speaker Andrian Candu. He also delivered a speech at the State University of Moldova.
