The Parliament’s working group with the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia will resume work immediately after new members are delegated to work on the group by Comrat. The priorities in the relationship with the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauz were discussed in a meeting of Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu and a team of experts of the Crisis Management Initiative, IPN reports, quoting the legislature’s press service.
“2016 was a year of establishment of communication and opportunities, both for Parliament and for the People’s Assembly. The report of the working group for 2016 shows the achieved results that can be developed in 2017. Four draft legal acts proposed by the group are now going through the legislative procedure,” stated Andrian Candu.
In the meeting, the interlocutors conferred also on the situation in the Transnistrian region. Andrian Candu said he plans to discuss the Transnistrian issue with President Igor Dodon so as to see how Parliament will cooperate with the presidential administration in the conflict settlement process.
The Crisis Management Initiative is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to prevent and resolve conflicts.
