Andrian Candu: If Second Kroll Report is made public, it could not be used as evidence in court

If the Second Kroll Report on the bank fraud committed in Moldova is made public, the evidence it contains could not be used in court and the criminal proceedings will be thus affected, vice president of the Democratic Party Andrian Candu, ex-Parliament Speaker, was quoted by IPN as saying in the program “In Depth” on Pro TV channel. According to him, the first report by Kroll Company contained facts, while the second report includes concrete evidence, bank accounts, names of persons and companies.

“There is a difference. The first report provided facts, while the second report contains proofs, such as data, figures, bank transfers, accounts and names and this is important information for the criminal proceedings. If these are made public tomorrow, money could disappear from accounts if there is some today. Moreover, I can be wrong, but as far as I know, the evidence that is made public can no longer be used in court,” stated Andrian Candu, adding that if the Second Kroll Report is published, those to blame could remain unpunished.

He said he saw only the first report by Kroll that was made public. The second report was transmitted through the National Bank of Moldova to the Prosecutor’s Office. “The National Bank was a kind of messenger through which the sealed packs were passed on to the Prosecutor’s Office,” stated the Democratic heavyweight.

The ex-Speaker also said that representatives of Kroll made a presentation of the second report and the countries to which a part of the US$ 660 million that was stolen as part of the bank fraud according to him was transferred became known.
