Andrian Candu: Dragutanu’s resignation can affect the country

There is a risk that Dorin Dragutanu’s dismissal will affect even more the economic situation in the country, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, quoted by IPN.

“The resignation of Dragutanu and Molosag will not help the country. On the contrary, these resignations can affect the country even more. There are particular risks. I’m concerned about Dragutanu’s assertion that the investigation of the banking frauds is not wanted. The words of a central bank governor in a news conference mean a lot. Blaming politically a bank is the most serious hindrance. Anyone has the right to resign, but this resignation should have been announced three months beforehand. This period is needed for selecting a new governor. Such a resignation should be tendered when you are prepared and come with those who will replace you. I will discuss with the development partners and with the representatives of states that are Moldova’s partners so as to identify a solution. I’m sure that there are suitable candidates,” stated the Speaker.

In the same connection, Adrian Candu voiced hope that the governor’s resignation will not affect the negotiations planned with the IMF. “I discussed with those from the IMF. They follow a principle – they discuss, negotiate and then take a decision. I provided arguments and made effort to convince them that the governor’s resignation cannot be an obstacle in the relations between Moldova and the IMF, that the National Bank should be regarded as a system and as in institution, not through the stance of one person,” he stated.

The Head of Parliament also said that he earlier disused the possible resignation with Dragutanu, but didn’t expect that he will do it this way.
