Andrian Candu discusses resumption of parliamentary cooperation in Poland

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, while taking part in the events staged to celebrate the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland, discussed the recommencement of the cooperation based on the Parliamentary Assembly platform so as to transfer expertise and good practices in the process of adjusting the national legislation to the Community acquis. Several hundred Polish and European officials came together in Poznan to celebrate the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland together with the Polish people, IPN reports.

According to the Parliament’s press service, on the sidelines of the events Andrian Candu had discussions with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, Marshal of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchciński and Vice President of the German Bundestag Johannes Singhammer.

The discussions with the Polish officials centered on the strengthening of the bilateral relations at all the levels, including the interparliamentary one. Marek Kuchciński assured that Poland, in particular the Polish legislature, is ready to continue to support Moldova.

The officials also discussed Poland’s initiatives to support the states from the region, including the Republic of Moldova, through the regional forums that this will organize in the immediate period and to which Moldova was invited.

With Johannes Singhammer, Andrian Candu discussed the fostering of the interparliamentary dialogue between Moldova and Germany and Germany’ role within the OSCE Chairmanship and the efforts made to resume the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format. The German official said that his country will continue to support Moldova’s modernization so as to ensure stability, security and welfare in the region.
