Head of Parliament Andrian Candu visited the Stockholm School of Economics and the Chamber of Commerce, where he had a series of meetings with representatives of the administration of the two institutions. The Speaker inquired about the activity of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, IPN reports.
According to the Parliament’s press service, the discussions at the Chamber of Commerce centered on the institution’s relations with the local business community, the types of lobby and promotion services provided to companies and international cooperation. The functioning of the anticorruption system for businesses in relation to the public authorities, including its role in the interaction between companies and the public authorities of all levels, was a separate subject discussed.
Andrian Candu spoke about the economic areas with development potential in the Republic of Moldova, saying the bill to create virtual IT parks, which was passed in the first reading, is designed to simplify the taxation mechanism in the field and to eliminate interaction between businesses and the public sector so as to diminish the possibility of corruption and abuse.
“To increase foreign investment, we need fair justice, including a mediation and arbitration system, so as to protect the businesses from possible abuses on the part of the state,” said the Speaker.
In the meeting of Andrian Candu and researchers of the Stockholm School of Economics, there were discussed the economic developments in Moldova, extension of the export markets, promotion of entrepreneurship and engagement of the young people in the sustainable economic development of the country as well as the immediate objectives of the Moldovan authorities for remedying the situation in the country, including to continue the reforms and to implement the Association Agreement.
In another development, the representatives of the Stockholm School of Economics said the students of Moldova are well trained and are among the top graduates of the Swedish education institution. In this connection, Andrian Candu underlined the necessity of involving the young people from Gagauzia and the Transnistrian region in the international programs covering also the Moldovan students.
The Swedish researchers also expressed interest in extending thepartnerships with the academic and research institutions of the Republic of Moldova.
