Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu congratulated the President-elect Igor Dodon and his challenger Maia Sandu, saying they both went through a difficult election campaign. According to the official, it is a new exercise for Moldova to have President of the left and government of the right. But the government will have constructive institutional cooperation with the President elected by the people, within the limits set by the Constitution and in the interests of the people, IPN reports.
According to Andrian Candu, Moldova’s European future does not depend on one person, even if this is President. “The Republic of Moldova will follow its European course by going through a period of profound, sometimes difficult, but absolutely necessary reforms. The Head of State must be President for the whole nation and for each citizen apart. Parliament remains committed to continue on the European road, as it was mandated by the people to do,” stated the Speaker.
He also said the presidential elections showed that Moldova is divided by a number of exaggerated or false themes. “For the next period, it is important for everyone to make effort and consolidate society,” said Andrian Candu. He welcomed the massive and unprecedented involvement of the diaspora and Transnistrians in the elections, noting the votes of the people from Bender, Dubasari, Comrat or London have the same value.
The Democratic Party that Andrian Candu represents in Parliament issued a press release by which Igor Dodon and Maia Sandu are congratulated on the hard work done in the election campaign.
