Andrian Candu: Collection of discrediting materials is illegal

The former vice president of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) Andrian Candu, who now heads the parliamentary group Pro-Moldova, considers the collection of discrediting materials against politicians is illegal. The MP stated his opinion when he was asked if the PDM knew about the video where Igor Dodon, in a discussion with Vladimir Plahotniuc, admits that he monthly receives money from the Russian Federation, IPN reports.

“First of all, I do not accept information leaks, either they are discrediting or not. Such videos are illegal. A person cannot be filmed if this thing is not mutually coordinated, if you are not on TV. I don’t think this helps from political viewpoint,” Andrian Candu stated in the talk show “About us” on Jurnal TV channel.

Andrian Candu said the collection of discrediting materials is illegal and some red lines should exist in political struggles.

“We didn’t discuss and didn’t take part in the taking of a decision concerning the leaking of information. I think everything that is related to the discrediting materials is incorrect and should be omitted. A limit should exist there in the political struggle,” added the former Parliament Speaker.

On June 8, 2019, there were broadcast two videos showing a meeting of Igor Dodon, Vladimir Plahotnic and Sergei Yaralov. In the first video, the three discuss a personal agreement between Igor Dodon and Vladimir Plahotniuc that includes a secret point concerning the federalization of Moldova. In the second video, the three speak about the criminal cases started against the leader of the PDM in Russia and the fact that Vladimir Putin asked that Igor Dodon should come to Moscow with Vladimir Plahotniuc in Moscow as the latter will not be arrested.
