Head of Parliament Andrian Candul said the candidate for the post of governor of the National Bank of Moldova must be presented to Parliament by December 10. He made such a statement after a meeting with members of the commission for selecting the candidate for governor, IPN reports.
“If we want the IMF mission to return to Chisinau for negotiations by the end of this year, I must present the candidate for governor to Parliament before December 10. Thus, by the beginning of December, we must also have a governor and a Government too,” said Candu.
He noted that he now cannot propose a candidate for the post of governor. “I will lay emphasis on the Moldovans from the diaspora, with international experience in the banking sector, with knowledge of foreign languages. Anyone who meets all the conditions can be a candidate for this post,” stated the Speaker.
“The commission for selecting the candidate for governor hasn’t chosen a candidate because of the political situation or because Moldova is in a relative financial-banking crisis and the state institutions lost credibility and the people do not want to apply for such important and responsible posts.”
The commission completed its mission, but its format will be kept for the subsequent consultations to choose a candidate that the Speaker is to present to Parliament.
