The draft law to enshrine the European course of the Republic of Moldova in the Constitution is still topical. In the near future, discussions on the issue will be initiated with leaders of the parliamentary groups, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show ”Moldova live” on Moldova 1 channel.
“I will discuss with the leaders of the parliamentary groups of the Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party. We bank on them first of all as these, even if they are opposition parties, are considered pro-European,” stated Andrian Candu. He added he will try to reach a compromise and to provide the necessary arguments so that these adopt the bill. But he does not expect the Socialists and the Communists to be willing to have discussions on the issue.
“This amendment is not only a political message showing that the European integration is the only country development model as it has legal effects. This means that when the Constitution is amended, all the state institutions mandatorily will have to make effort to achieve the European integration goal. No matter what parties govern in the immediately period, absolutely each functionary in this state will have to work according to a particular legal framework on the European integration,” said the Speaker.
