Andrei Strambeanu: Moldova didn’t struggle for independence

The Republic of Moldova has never struggled for independence. Ultimately, the independence was done, but on paper, writer Andrei Strambeanu, former member of Parliament, stated in the talk show “People’s Council” on 10TV channel, IPN reports.

According to the dramatist, then the people were so Russified that they felt well in the Soviet Union. “We addressed even the pet dogs in Russian,” stated the ex-MP. According to him, the independence was done on paper only. “It is actually known that the Declaration of Independence is a poem and the Constitution is a beauty, but nobody looks at this Constitution. Nobody reads it and nobody implements it”.

Andrei Strambeanu said Moldova is a false state created by Ribbentrop and Molotov and has no chance of survival. “Everyone felt that what was going on wasn’t real. We felt that a change was needed. The people were real slaves. When this breath of fresh air (independence, e.n.) came, we were all dizzy and confused and didn’t understand what was happening. We didn’t realize that we had to immediately unite with the mother country,” stated the publicist.

He noted that now, 26 years of the declaration of independence, 60% of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are illiterate and read nothing at all and this is complete degradation. The good part of the people was driven away by the rulers through robberies, misery and their ignorance that they consider a virtue.
