The roads are covered with snow and workers of the State Road Administration do their best to make all national and regional roads passable, said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu. The official called upon the citizens to show maximum responsibility and avoid non-urgent travel.

According to official data, 371 special vehicles and 340 road workers of the State Road Administration cleared the roads of snow on Monday. Hundreds of tonnes of technical salt and antiskid material were spread on roads. Deputy Premier Andrei Spînu assured that work is being done at full capacity so that there are no blocked roads and stuck vehicles.

“I ask all citizens to show a spirit of responsibility. The request is to maximally avoid movement during this period, especially by transport. The State Road Administration is on the ground. Hundreds of workers and equipment have been mobilized so that traffic on national and regional roads is as smooth as possible. One should travel cautiously. It is winter and I urge citizens to take this into account. There is enough antiskid material. Salt and antiskid material mixed with sand have been spread,” Andrei Spînu stated in the program “Reflection Points” on Vocea Basarabiei station.

He noted that owing to the bad weather, a number of flights at the Chisinau international Airport have been delayed or even cancelled.

“We have delays at the Airport. It is more problematic with the flights that take off from the Chisinau Airport because the aircraft have to be processed with material to defrost the snow on the planes and there are delays as we have to ensure the security of passengers and flights. At the same time, the Airport has recently purchased state-of-the-art equipment for cleaning the runway. On this segment, we experience no problems. The new equipment is already in Chisinau. It ensures quick cleaning of the runway and airplane parking. For the most part, everything is under control and there are no serious problems that can block the Airport. Train traffic is smooth,” said the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
